Kris and I visited Ponte Vedra Inn & Club a couple of years ago for the first time. The whole time we were there, all I could think about was how much the kiddos were missing out! I could picture them in their swimsuits and loaded down with all of their sand toys, playing all day in the sand. So when Kris had a work meeting this Summer, we knew the kiddos would have so much fun on this work trip!
Ponte Vedra Travel Diary
Located 20 miles southeast of Jacksonville, Florida is the picturesque seaside community of Ponte Vedra Beach. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club sits neatly along Florida’s northeast shore overlooking the pristine sands and glimmering waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Spanning more than 300 seaside acres, it is the perfect place for family vacations, couple’s retreat, or corporate meetings. The historic Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is a AAA Five Diamond resort dating back to 1928. The resort heralds a reward winning spa, championship golf, tennis, and 12 unique restaurants.
The smiles say it all. Their feet in the softest, sugary sand just steps from our room. If we were in our room, which wasn’t often, the kids would ask to run out to the beach and play. They would spend their time jumping, doing cartwheels and handstands, and we could watch them from our rooms window.
It is funny to me, no one in my family likes the beach. I have always said I didn’t know how I was related because I have loved the beach for as long as I can remember. So I made it a point to start taking mine at a very young age. It can be a chore at times toting a million things, slathering everyone in sunscreen, and the clean up at the end. But it was always worth it. Having a room steps aways from the beach was beyond wonderful.
Our first day was spent soaking up all the sunshine.
I watched these two make many trips down the resort’s pool slide. And I was judge and ruler to jumps and flips in the water. The pool was a few steps from our hotel room. And we were a short walk on the beach from all of the BEACH ACTIVITIES the hotel has to offer.
Kris has meetings til noon everyday. So the kids and I were on our own to explore in the mornings. The Inn has a cute little cafe where I could take the kiddos for breakfast every morning. We would sit outside and watch the golfers go by while we ate our breakfast. It was so peaceful and the blueberry muffins were our favorite, along with the chocolate croissants. Kris’s birthday was while we were there, so we took the kids for gelato at the same cafe to celebrate.
The second day we were there, Brydon went on a fat-tire bicycle ride down the beach with some friends.
It was such a fun way for him to see the local beaches. You can ride all the way down to Jacksonville Beach and the boys were able to stop and jump into the ocean to cool off anytime they wanted.
While Brydon was gone, Audrey spent her time at the pool. The hotel boasts 4 pools, including an adult pool. The pool was Audrey’s happy place. She loved swimming, sliding, and eating popsicles poolside. The resorts family friendly pool, was the best set up. I could sit and relax while I had a view of the whole pool, keeping an eye on her the entire time. The pool also has a zero entry on one end, making it easy for little ones to splash and play. On the other end, there were swim lanes that the kids raced each other in.
I was amazed at the vastness of the shoreline. A local told us we could find sharks teeth on the beach and Audrey was determined to find them. It’s crazy, we live in Florida and I have never taken them to find shark’s teeth. It has been on my Summer Bucket List for a while and now I can cross that one off!
