A few years ago I would have never bought a maxi skirt. And if I did buy one, it would just collect dust in my closet because I had the hardest time trying to figure out what to wear with it. There was only one way to wear one and that was to church. Well times have changed (lucky me) or maybe I have changed, either way maxi skirts can be worn with many tops. Especially a classic maxi black maxi skirt. The maxi skirt is also flattering on ALL body types. And lucky you, I have chosen 10 different tops for you to pair with your favorite maxi skirts!
10 Tops to Wear with a Maxi Skirt
Tank top
Heading straight into Spring and Summer coming up fast, tank tops are the perfect way to add a casual and cool spin on your maxi skirt. I love to tie the front of mine in a knot or tuck them in and make the maxi skirt high waisted.
Denim Top
The denim top made a comeback a few years ago. Literally as I threw out my denim top that I had held on to for 10 years and then I swore the trend was never coming back. Well I swear the next day I saw denim tops everywhere. They make them in every shape and size and although I was quite mad at myself for throwing out that shirt, I have made up for it by buying 10 more that now hang in my closet. I love this ONE for Spring and Summer.
Graphic Tee
My favorite, the GRAPHIC TEE. I think I would wear a graphic tee every day of the week. They are just as versatile as your maxi skirt!
Blazer
The blazer has been my staple now for a few years. Every time I go to purchase one I ask myself do I really need another blazer? And the answer is always yes…. Wear them with skirts, denim, shorts, or dresses.
Sweatshirt
Sweaters are the easiest to throw over your maxi skirt. Even if you have a maxi dress, throw that sweatshirt over it!
Button-up Top
A button-up top is a great option for work wear. I gives your maxi skirt a very business appeal. You can tuck it in or tie it up! Either way looks great in my opinion. OBSESSED with this STRIPED BUTTON TOP
Leather Jacket
For the Fall and Winter add a Leather jacket over any of the tops. We don’t get to pull ours out often, but when the temps drop my leather jacket comes out!
Cami
I love how a cami gives anything a feminine touch and the maxi skirt is no different. You can even put a sweater over the cami and skirt during the cooler months.
Crocheted Top
I don’t know if you have noticed, but crochet is everywhere.
Denim Jacket
So many styles, not enough time to choose! I could own 15 denim jackets right now and still want 15 more. They are my lifesaver over any outfit. I freeze everywhere I go down here because it is 115 degrees outside and 32 degrees inside, ANYWHERE we go! My go-to DENIM JACKET as of lately.
