Today, we celebrate this girl turning FOURTEEN. I

Today, we celebrate this girl turning FOURTEEN. I wrote most of this when she turned 10. I have changed a few things. And we are still so proud of whose she’s becoming with each passing day.
.
I don’t think I will ever be able to do her justice by my words on this platform. I always say I didn’t realize how much I needed her till I had her and that statement becomes more true every day.
.
She is funny. Not the telling jokes funny and trying really hard to be funny. The kind where you really have to listen to her and you don’t remember what she even said a day later, but you remember her making you belly laugh and crying funny.
.
She is kind. At school they had to go around and say what they admire in their classmates and one of them said Audrey is kind, even when someone isn’t kind to her. OH MY HEART! I cried. I still cry thinking about this. As a parent, you try to teach your kiddos this, you know “when you can be anything in the world, be kind.” But honestly that is HARD. Our flesh wants to do the opposite and its always easier to say these cliche statements and way harder to act them out. And to hear that Audrey practices this makes my heart explode! I am still hearing stories of her putting this into practice.

She is thoughtful. At Christmas, she made a list and bought for each family member with her own money. Without giving it a second thought. And she made sure the gifts were exactly what they wanted. she still does this year after year.
.
The best sister. We tell Brydon everyday he is so lucky. From sitting at lacrosse tournaments and never complaining to looking at me and advocating for him to switch school because she knew what Brydon needed even if it meant she was giving up her favorite time of the day, B driving her to school.
.
And today, this amazing human turns 14. Still trying to figure out how to slow time down. But for now, Kris and I are cherishing every minute God has given us with her.
